The terms and conditions that govern your use of the SafetyMeter platform and its tools.

Please read these Terms carefully. By accessing or using SafetyMeter, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and Trusted Tech Africa ("we", "us", "our"), the operator of SafetyMeter at safetymeter.org ("the Platform"). By accessing or using any part of the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you are using the Platform on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

SafetyMeter is a responsible innovation platform providing five AI-assisted tools for product teams, founders, NGOs, and compliance professionals:

  • Risk Radar — identifies and prioritises trust & safety risks
  • Policy Generator — produces draft governance documentation
  • Harm Modeling — maps potential harms to stakeholder groups
  • Incident Simulator — provides crisis response training scenarios
  • Compliance Checker — assesses readiness against regulatory frameworks

The Platform generates informational assessments using a combination of deterministic scoring engines and AI-generated narrative. Outputs are for informational and educational purposes only and do not constitute legal, professional, or regulatory advice of any kind.

3. No Account Required; Access

SafetyMeter does not require user registration or account creation. Access to the Platform is provided free of charge on an "as-is" basis. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Platform at any time without notice.

4. Permitted Use

You may use the Platform for lawful purposes, including:

  • Assessing and improving the responsible-technology practices of your own products or services
  • Educational and research purposes related to AI safety, trust & safety, and responsible innovation
  • Internal compliance documentation, investor due diligence, and team training
  • Non-commercial use by NGOs, academic institutions, and public-sector bodies

5. Prohibited Use

You must not use the Platform to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information in tool forms
  • Reverse engineer, copy, scrape, or reproduce the Platform's methodologies, scoring logic, or outputs for commercial redistribution without written permission
  • Represent SafetyMeter outputs as definitive legal compliance certifications or regulatory approvals
  • Use the Platform in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform or its underlying systems
  • Transmit malware, spam, or any code designed to disrupt the Platform's operation
  • Use automated tools to mass-generate assessments in a manner that constitutes abuse of the service
  • Use the Platform for any purpose that is harmful, harassing, discriminatory, or unethical

6. Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform — including the scoring methodologies, templates, user interface, design, written materials, and software — is owned by or licensed to Trusted Tech Africa and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of any information you submit via tool forms. By submitting information, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that information solely for the purpose of generating your assessment.

Reports and outputs generated by SafetyMeter may be used internally by your organisation. You may not commercially redistribute, resell, or sublicense SafetyMeter outputs without prior written permission.

7. Disclaimers

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

SafetyMeter assessments are informational only. We make no representation that outputs are accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any specific regulatory or legal purpose. See our full Disclaimer for details.

AI-generated narrative content may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. Always validate AI-generated content with qualified professionals before relying on it.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TRUSTED TECH AFRICA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Platform shall not exceed £100 (one hundred pounds sterling) or the equivalent in your local currency.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party sites. Links do not constitute endorsement.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Trusted Tech Africa, its directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform in violation of these Terms or applicable law.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time if you breach these Terms or if we reasonably believe your use is harmful to the Platform or other users. Sections 6, 7, 8, 10, and 12 survive any termination.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall first be subject to good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
