1. Purpose
This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected of all users of SafetyMeter and anyone who interacts with Trusted Tech Africa in any capacity — including via our platform, email, social media, or in-person events. It applies equally to our team.
A responsible AI safety platform must practice what it assesses. We take this Code seriously.
2. Who This Applies To
This Code of Conduct applies to:
- All users of the SafetyMeter platform
- All members of the Trusted Tech Africa team
- Partners, contractors, and consultants working with us
- Anyone communicating with us via email, social media, or other channels
- Attendees of any events we host or participate in
3. Expected Standards of Behaviour
Honesty and Integrity
Use SafetyMeter's tools honestly. Provide accurate descriptions of your product, technology, and organisation when using our assessment tools. Deliberately providing false information to obtain a misleadingly favourable assessment undermines the purpose of this platform and may mislead third parties who rely on your outputs.
Respect
Treat all people — our team, other users you interact with, and the communities your products affect — with dignity and respect. Discriminatory, abusive, or harassing language or behaviour will not be tolerated. See our Anti-Discrimination & Anti-Harassment Policy for detail.
Responsible Use
Use our tools for their intended purpose: assessing and improving the safety and responsibility of technology products. Do not use SafetyMeter to generate outputs intended to deceive, to create false safety certifications, or to misrepresent your compliance with ethical or regulatory standards.
Professionalism
When communicating with our team, maintain a professional and constructive tone. Abusive, threatening, or manipulative communications will result in termination of correspondence and, where appropriate, will be reported to relevant authorities.
Transparency
Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or manipulate our scoring or AI systems to produce outputs that do not reflect a genuine assessment of your product. Transparency is foundational to responsible innovation.
4. Prohibited Behaviour
The following behaviours are explicitly prohibited when using SafetyMeter or interacting with Trusted Tech Africa:
- Providing knowingly false or misleading information in assessment forms
- Using outputs to falsely represent safety, compliance, or certification to investors, regulators, or the public
- Attempting to exploit, manipulate, or circumvent our scoring or AI systems
- Abusive, threatening, or harassing communications directed at our team or other users
- Discriminatory language or behaviour based on any protected characteristic
- Automated scraping, bulk extraction, or systematic harvesting of our tool outputs
- Using our platform to develop tools designed to cause harm, violate privacy, or discriminate
- Impersonating Trusted Tech Africa, SafetyMeter, or our team in any context
- Any use that violates our Acceptable Use Policy or Terms of Use
5. Using AI Responsibly
SafetyMeter produces AI-generated content. You are responsible for how you use that content. Before sharing, publishing, or acting on AI-generated assessments or narratives:
- Review the outputs critically — AI can make errors
- Do not present AI-generated content as human expert opinion without appropriate disclosure
- Do not use AI-generated policy templates or compliance narratives as substitutes for legal or professional advice
- Apply your own judgment and, where appropriate, consult qualified professionals
6. Enforcement
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in:
- A warning or request to correct the behaviour
- Restriction of access to SafetyMeter services
- Permanent termination of access
- Reporting to relevant authorities where conduct may be unlawful
We will always seek to act proportionately and in good faith. We will give you an opportunity to respond to any serious allegation before taking significant action unless immediate action is necessary to protect others.
7. Reporting a Violation
If you witness or experience behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to:
- Email: info@trustedtechafrica.com
- Subject line: Code of Conduct Report — SafetyMeter
All reports are treated with confidentiality. We will not retaliate against anyone who makes a good-faith report. See also our Incident Reporting Policy for the full reporting process.
8. Updates
We will review and update this Code of Conduct as our platform grows and community norms evolve. Material changes will be communicated on this page.
