Accessibility Statement

SafetyMeter's commitment to digital accessibility and how we work to meet WCAG 2.1 standards.

Version 1.0
Effective 18 May 2026
Last updated 18 May 2026
SafetyMeter is committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We strive to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines and continuously work to improve the accessibility of our platform.

1. Our Commitment

Trusted Tech Africa believes that responsible innovation must include accessible technology. We are committed to making SafetyMeter accessible to as broad an audience as possible, regardless of ability or technology. This means we aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

2. Conformance Status

SafetyMeter is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standards. We are actively working to address known gaps.

3. Technical Specifications

SafetyMeter relies on the following technologies for conformance:

  • HTML5
  • CSS3 (including CSS Custom Properties)
  • JavaScript (React 19)
  • WAI-ARIA roles and attributes
  • SVG for inline iconography

The Platform is designed to function with modern web browsers and assistive technologies including screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver), keyboard-only navigation, and high-contrast display modes.

4. Known Accessibility Limitations

We are aware of the following areas that do not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards and are working to resolve them:

AreaIssueStatus
Incident Simulator 3D SceneThe 3D WebGL viewport is not accessible to screen readers. A text-based alternative summary is provided for all visual states. In progress
PDF ReportsDownloaded PDF reports are not fully tagged for screen reader navigation. We are working to add proper PDF/UA tagging.Planned
Complex data visualisationsSome score charts and bar graphs do not yet have full ARIA-described text alternatives. In progress
Mobile touch targetsSome interactive elements on small screen sizes may fall below the 44×44px minimum touch target recommendation. In progress

5. What We Have Done

  • All form inputs have associated labels and descriptive placeholder text
  • All interactive elements are reachable via keyboard navigation (Tab, Enter, Space, arrow keys)
  • Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements
  • Colour is not used as the sole means of conveying information
  • Text contrast ratios meet or exceed 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text
  • All images and icons have appropriate alternative text or are marked as decorative
  • ARIA landmarks are used to define page regions (navigation, main, footer)
  • Modals and dialogs trap focus and are dismissible via keyboard (Escape key)
  • Page language is set in the HTML element
