How SafetyMeter and Trusted Tech Africa communicate on social media, and guidelines for referencing us online.

Version 1.0
Effective 18 May 2026
Last updated 18 May 2026
This policy covers how Trusted Tech Africa uses social media, how we represent ourselves online, and what you should know about unofficial accounts and user-generated content that references SafetyMeter.

1. Our Official Presence

Trusted Tech Africa and SafetyMeter maintain official communications via our website (safetymeter.org) and authorised email channels (info@trustedtechafrica.com). Any social media accounts associated with SafetyMeter or Trusted Tech Africa are clearly identified as official in their account bio or handle.

We do not currently maintain active official social media accounts on all platforms. If in doubt about whether an account is official, contact us directly at info@trustedtechafrica.com to verify.

2. How We Use Social Media

When we post on social media, our communications aim to:

  • Share updates about SafetyMeter features, policy changes, and responsible AI resources
  • Engage with the responsible technology, AI safety, and innovation community
  • Share educational content about AI ethics, harm modeling, and responsible innovation
  • Respond to public questions or feedback about our platform

Our social media communications are subject to the same standards as all of our other communications: accurate, transparent, non-misleading, and respectful.

3. What We Do Not Do on Social Media

  • We do not make regulatory or compliance claims about our platform that are not substantiated
  • We do not endorse, promote, or disparage specific organisations, products, or individuals without clear disclosure of any commercial relationship
  • We do not share personal data or confidential information about users or partners
  • We do not engage in targeted harassment or pile-on criticism of individuals or organisations
  • We do not operate social media accounts that impersonate other people or organisations

4. Mentions, Tags, and User-Generated Content

If you mention, tag, or reference SafetyMeter on social media:

  • We may like, share, or respond to your post — this does not constitute an endorsement of your product or views
  • We may quote or share your post for community engagement purposes; we will credit you
  • We will not share posts that contain misinformation, discriminatory content, or content that violates our Code of Conduct

If you do not want your content shared by us, please let us know and we will honour that request.

5. Unofficial Accounts and Impersonation

SafetyMeter and Trusted Tech Africa are not affiliated with, and do not endorse, any social media accounts that are not explicitly identified as official by us. If you encounter an account claiming to be SafetyMeter or Trusted Tech Africa that appears to be unofficial or is spreading misinformation:

  • Do not share financial details or sensitive information with such accounts
  • Report the account to the relevant platform
  • Alert us at info@trustedtechafrica.com

6. Brand Use on Social Media

You may reference SafetyMeter by name in honest, factual social media posts about our platform (for example, "I used SafetyMeter to assess our product"). However, you must not:

  • Use our name or logo in a way that implies official endorsement or partnership unless we have explicitly confirmed this in writing
  • Imply that your product has been "certified", "approved", or "verified" by SafetyMeter — we do not issue certifications
  • Use our brand to promote products or services that are harmful, discriminatory, or inconsistent with our values

7. Influencer and Partnership Transparency

If we engage influencers, content creators, or partners to promote SafetyMeter, we will ensure:

  • All paid or otherwise incentivised promotions are clearly disclosed (e.g., #ad, #sponsored, or equivalent)
  • Promotional content is accurate and consistent with our platform's actual capabilities
  • No promotional relationship is concealed or misrepresented

8. Reporting Misuse of Our Brand

If you believe our brand or social media presence is being misused, contact us at info@trustedtechafrica.com with details and a link to the relevant content.
